Postdoctoral Research Associates

Betsy Edershile, Ph.D.

Elizabeth Edershile (Betsy) is a postdoctoral research associate who joined the lab in summer 2023. Betsy is interested in better capturing and understanding interpersonal and affective dynamic patterns that give rise to expressions of psychopathology. For example, some of her work has explored the affective and interpersonal processes associated with narcissistic symptom expression. She is also interested in understanding how affective variability associates with risk for suicide. Betsy leverages multiple techniques in her research, including ecological momentary assessment and experimental methods.

Graduate Students

Kai Kellerman

Kai is a fifth-year graduate student in the clinical psychology program. His primary research interests focus on proximal suicide risk factors and the cognitive mechanisms by which they contribute to increases in suicidal thoughts over short time frames. Additionally, he is interested in the development of suicide risk factors among vulnerable adolescent populations, including sexual and gender minority youth.

Annabelle Mournet

Annabelle is a third-year graduate student in the clinical psychology program. Her primary research interests focus on the use of ecological momentary assessment to investigate suicide risk and protective factors among autistic adults. Additionally, she has a particular interest in the role of social connection as a protective factor against suicidal thoughts and behaviors.

Ellen Wittler
Ellen is a second-year graduate student in the clinical psychology program.

Roscoe Garner

Roscoe is a first-year graduate student in the clinical psychology program. His primary research interests focus on the use of technology-based interventions for suicide risk among adults. Additionally, he is interested in investigating why certain individuals experience suicidal ideation, while others go on to ultimately attempt suicide.

Clinical Psychology Residents

Mariah Hawes-Sousa

Mariah is a clinical psychology resident in the Rutgers UBHC Clinical Psychology Internship Program, doing her minor clinical and research rotations with the lab.

Research Coordinators

Kaileigh Conti

Kaileigh received her B.A. from Boston College in 2020 and her M.A. from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in 2022. Her research interests include severe mental illness and emotion dysregulation in children and adolescents, as well as treatment methods for this population. She hopes to one day obtain a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and continue to conduct research.

Olivia Lozy

With a dual background in media and psychology, Olivia is interested in the intersection between psychology and technology. She aims to pursue further research in to advance scientific understanding of human interaction with technology and elucidate ways in which modern technology can be engineered to make positive widespread impact. Olivia graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in May 2020.

Hannah Krall

Hannah received her B.A. in Psychology from Skidmore College and after graduating, served as a Research Assistant in the Cognition, Emotion, and Life Experiences (CEL) lab at Butler Hospital/Brown University. Her research interests include identifying acute risk factors for suicidal ideation/behavior and reducing stigma and other barriers to increase access to treatment.
